ENCINITAS: Cliff Rescue 8/5/12

Posted On //

A woman is startled but unharmed this afternoon after she was stuck on a cliff in the 200 block of Neptune Ave in Encinitas. According to lifeguard Robert Veria, the woman was trying to get a towel that she dropped on top of the cliff. After trying to retrieve the towel, she realized she was stuck on the cliff and wasn't able to make it back up. Firefighters responded along with lifeguards to rescue the woman by rappelling down the cliff. The rescue only took about 20-30 minutes and the woman didn't have any serious injuries. With the sandstone cliffs, it is really easy for someone to loose their footing and slide down the cliff. Veria says the best way to stay safe during the summer is to stay away from the cliffs.
