Officers are investigating the scene of a train vs. pedestrian collision that left on individual dead tonight. The gruesome scene happened in Encinitas around 6pm when sheriffs and fire department got the call for southbound Coaster train that hit a pedestrian near the interaction of Verdi Road and San Elijo Road. Unfortunately, the individual succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. Officers don't know why the subject stepped onto the tracks in the first place. They have not found an identity for this person and the investigation is ongoing. SOT with Sargent on scene. Call the Sheriff's Media Line for more information.
